Atlanta chef wins Round 1 of Super Bowl Culinary Cook-off

In the lead-up to Super Bowl LI between the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots, one local chef this week won Round 1 of a nationally televised battle between chefs.

In the 2017 Super Bowl Culinary Cook-off held Feb. 3 on NBC’s “Today” Show, renowned Atlanta chef and cookbook author Jennifer Hill Booker represented Atlanta and the Falcons against chef Will Gilson, who represented the Boston area and the Patriots.

In the end, it was Booker, with her recipes for pimento cheese-stuffed deviled eggs and BBQ Coca-Cola chicken skewers, which took home the TV show’s Super Bowl Culinary Cook-off trophy. For the Georgia resident, it was only fitting her recipes happened to feature ingredients from two of her favorite Georgia-based companies, SeaPak and Coca-Cola.

Booker, who lives in Lilburn, teaches classes at The Cook's Warehouse in Midtown and Ansley Mall and has done culinary therapy for the Cottages on Mountain Creek in Sandy Springs.

She is no stranger to television audiences, having been featured on Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen,” on CNN and now on “Today,” to name just a few. She also has been featured in numerous regional and national magazines, in no small part because of her successful first cookbook, “Field Peas to Foie Gras: Southern Recipes with a French Accent.” Her latest cookbook, “Dinner Déjà Vu: Southern Tonight, French Tomorrow,” is being released this month. Both cookbooks are available on Amazon and through Booker’s website,

Booker was selected a Georgia Grown Executive Chef by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and is the Culinary Explorer for the Georgia Department of Tourism and Travel.
