Soul Food Family Supper

with Chef Jennifer Hill Booker

Where: Big Jones Chicago

When: January 24, 2019

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

We are excited to announce our 2019 Soul Food Family Supper will be Thursday, January 24 with Chef Jennifer Hill Booker of Atlanta, Georgia!

Dinner will be in support of her latest book, Dinner Deja Vu: Southern Tonight, French Tomorrow. A signed copy of her book will be included in the price of the dinner.

This will mark our fifth annual Family Supper in conjunction with Soul Food Week, and it is always one of the most memorable and congenial nights of the year. Chef Booker will hold court to talk about her inspirations and tell stories, answer your questions, and sign books in person. As you can see below, we have an epic menu planned. Please join us for a very special evening. Reservations can be made by calling 773-275-5725.

Chef Booker has followed a nonlinear path in pursuing her culinary dreams, and after attending Le Cordon Bleu in Paris for her culinary training, she founded Your Resident Gourmet, offering personal chef and catering services to lucky clientele around Atlanta.

Her cooking is driven by her two intertwined loves of her African American heritage and culture, and her passion for French cuisine gleaned from her time abroad.

She is Executive Chef of the Georgia Grown program of the Georgia Department of Agriculture, one of the most innovative and successful state-driven local food promotions in the country, and is on the advisory board of the Atlanta Wine and Food Festival and James Beard Foundation Food Waste Advisory Committee, and is active in the Atlanta chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier.

Cooking Tips:

#1

Plan your menu around your grocer's weekly sales ad. Your ingredients will be in stock, in season, and on sale!

#2

Shop, Cook & Eat Seasonally. In-season produce is fresh, inexpensive, and tasty!

#3

Cook Once & Eat Twice. Cook a double batch of dishes like soups, beans and chili-for those days you don't feel like cooking!
